Different Types of Industrial Hoses and Their Uses

Before you start looking at industrial hoses, you must make sure that your needs are met by the hose. Some hoses are not made to be used outside of the factory or greenhouse and may not hold up in the elements or the pressure you need them to withstand. Industrial hoses are made from many different materials, each of which has its own strengths and weaknesses, so make sure you know what you’re buying before you spend money on something that won’t meet your needs.

Stainless Steel Hose

Stainless steel is the most popular material for hoses because it’s resistant to corrosion. It resists chlorides, acids, alkalis, salts, and other chemicals that are found in industrial environments. Stainless steel also has a high tensile strength so it can withstand the constant pressure from liquids or gases that pass through it.

Composite Hose

Manufacturers use composite hoses for their versatility in high-pressure applications. Composite hoses are made from a combination of synthetic rubber and fibre, which is then vulcanized to create an exceptionally durable product. Composite hoses have a greater tolerance for heat than traditional rubber hoses, making them perfect for use in steam or hot water systems. They also have an excellent resistance to abrasion, making them the perfect choice for conveying abrasive substances such as sand or coal dust.

PTFE Hose

A PTFE hose is a high temperature, chemical-resistant hose that is used in areas with extreme temperatures. This type of hose can withstand temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, it can stand up to chemicals such as acids, bases, salts and alcohols. Finally, this type of hose is flexible when cold but becomes rigid at higher temperatures. One downside to using a PTFE hose is that it cannot be welded or clamped without damaging the surface. Polyurethane (PU) Hose: If you are looking for a durable, lightweight industrial hose then PU may be the perfect choice for you.

Hydraulic Hose

A hydraulic hose is a flexible tube that connects the pump to the machine that needs to be powered. Hydraulic hoses are often made with synthetic rubber and reinforced with layers of fabric or wire mesh, making them more durable.  They can handle higher pressures than most other types of hoses. The most common size for a hydraulic hose is 3/8 inch in diameter, but they can also come in 1/2-inch diameter as well as others.

PVC Hose

PVC industrial hoses are used in a variety of industries, including automotive service, construction, manufacturing and other applications. These hoses are resistant to most solvents, acids, oils and greases. They also have a long lifespan when used in cold water applications.

Rubber Hose

Rubber hoses have many different applications in various industries. For example, they are often used in the construction industry to deliver drinking water to construction workers on scaffolding. They can also be used in a hospital setting to provide water for medical devices like dialysis machines. The flexibility of rubber hoses means that they are great for moving around obstacles without kinking or restricting flow.
